Chorlton Sings on BBC Radio Manchester
21st January 2023
Our Chorlton Sings choir got straight back to action following their festive break when they were interviewed by Stacey Copeland for her show on BBC Radio Manchester.
The show, which aired on Friday 20th January, included some special clips of our recent favourite tunes as our 40-strong choir could be heard rehearsing throughout the episode. Listen out for some early snippets of ‘Finesse’, ‘Riptide’ and ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’…
Host Stacey interviewed several members of the crew whilst she joined us at our Wednesday session earlier in the week. She discussed a range of topics with our singers, from their musical backgrounds (from punk bands to Swedish folk) and favourite gigs, to what makes our Chorlton choir so special.
Stacey and Rose also debated the topic – can anyone learn to sing? And of course, the answer is yes!!
“It was so exciting having Stacey here to join us for our rehearsal and get Chorlton Sings on the Manchester airwaves. Thanks Stacey and the team at BBC Radio Manchester for having us! Come and sing with us anytime!” – Rose de la Font, Choir Director
Sophie, who runs our Choir’s social media and marketing, is often hidden behind the scenes of our photos and videos. So we were delighted to get her onto the airwaves to share her experience on Stacey’s show – here’s what she had to say:
“It was great to be able to share my love of choir with Stacey and her listeners. Chorlton Sings is such a highlight of my week and it felt really good to be able to share that passion and enthusiasm with a wider audience.” – Sophie Williamson
