Choir Socials – Guidelines & Ideas
As much as we love singing together, it’s also lovely to hang out without singing once in a while! Choir socials are a great way to connect, unwind, and build friendships beyond rehearsal & gig nights.
Anyone in the choir can organise a social, you don’t have to be on the social committee. It could be a one-off thing, something small, or something big, totally up to you. You can also team up with someone if you’d rather plan as a pair.
A few fun ideas:
- Pub trips or meals out
- Hikes & rambles
- Comedy nights or concerts
- Beer or wine festivals
- Board game nights
- Park picnics
- Ice skating
- Craft workshops
- Table tennis or bowling
- Cheese/wine/chocolate tasting
- Escape Room
Guidelines:
- Socials are open to current choir members only.
- The person who submits the event is responsible for organising it.
- You’re welcome to charge a small ticket fee if needed (e.g., venue hire or group discount).
- Socials can have a limited number of places (e.g., 20 people)—just make sure it’s shared with the whole choir so everyone has a fair chance to join. Not every venue can host 50+ people, and that’s totally fine!
- If you’re not sure where to start, check in with the social lead for advice or support.
- Our choir’s Code of Conduct applies to all socials. We do not tolerate bullying, harassment, or any behaviour that makes others feel unsafe or unwelcome. If anything happens that makes you uncomfortable, please contact Rose immediately so we can address it appropriately.
- If your social includes singing or uses choir arrangements (e.g., a gig-style event), please check with Rose first to ensure proper permissions and logistics are in place.
Once you’ve got your idea ready, head to the Submit a Social form and we’ll get it onto the calendar, share it in the WhatsApp announcements, and announce it at the end of rehearsal!
